Innovation. Excellence. Free.
Arizona State University
Fountain Hills High School
For the ninth year in a row, Arizona State University is No. 1 in innovation among American universities, ahead of Stanford, MIT and Caltech, in the newly released annual “Best Colleges” 2024 rankings by U.S. News & World Report.
For the fifth year in a row, Fountain Hills High School is ranked a "National" & “Best High School” by U.S. News & World Report. FHHS is an "A" rated high school by the Arizona Department of Education, an A+ School of Excellence by the Arizona Education Foundation, and a National Model School.

Fountain Hills High School's innovative FHU (Fountain Hills University) program offers students a unique opportunity to complete their first year of college while still in high school. Through a partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), students can choose from 54 dual-enrollment courses that provide both high school and college credit. This initiative not only accelerates students' academic journeys but also offers significant financial benefits, as the district covers the cost of tuition, potentially saving families thousands of dollars.

The FHU program is designed to prepare students for the demands of higher education and the workforce. By engaging in college-level coursework, students develop critical thinking, time management, and self-discipline skills. Additionally, the support from FHHS teachers ensures that students receive guidance and assistance, fostering a nurturing environment that promotes academic success.

Students can advance even further by enrolling in FHU+, a program that combines Arizona State University (ASU) coursework with the College Board's AP Capstone program. FHU+ allows students to earn up to 60 college credits, blending the flexibility of ASU courses with the research-based curriculum of AP Capstone. Through AP Capstone, students can earn 18 college credits by completing advanced courses like AP Seminar and AP Research, which require them to write a thesis paper and defend their research before a faculty panel. Completing the AP Capstone program awards students the prestigious Highest Distinction diploma.

FHUSD's commitment to excellence is evident in the district's focus on innovation, personalized learning, and community engagement which creates an environment where students can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Fountain Hills University exemplifies our dedication to providing students with exceptional educational opportunities. By combining rigorous academics with supportive teaching and real-world experiences, the district ensures that its students are future-ready, capable, and confident as they transition to college and beyond.

Dual Enrollment, Double Credits.
Through a partnership with Arizona State University, Fountain Hills High School students can complete their first year of college while in high school. With 54 courses to choose from, our students can earn college credit and high school credit in one course. Students can complete their coursework knowing that they have the support of a FHHS teacher to explain complex problems, keep them on track with the course, and prepare them for exams. What makes this program even more amazing is that the district covers the cost of tuition. Students who take advantage of the new FHU program will save thousands of dollars by completing their freshman year of college at FHHS.
While each course may satisfy either general studies requirements or major credit toward a desired Bachelor's degree, it is important to meet with your counselor to ensure the courses will meet your desired outcomes. To the right is ASU's latest General Studies Gold requirements for incoming students beginning with the Class of 2024. To obtain a Bachelor's degree from ASU, students must complete each of the required categories. FHU courses will ensure that our students are on an accelerated path to complete their degree faster.

Effective fall 2024, ASU undergraduate students are required to complete the above General Studies Gold requirements.
