Section 504
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability and guarantees individuals with disabilities equal access to an education. In order to qualify for assistance under Section 504, the student must meet the definition of “disabled.”
A student with a disability is one who:

Has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities; or
-
Has a record of such an impairment; or
-
Is regarded as having such an impairment.
